Homewear

The new style of working from home

In recent years, we have seen many shifts take place within the fashion industry. Whether they were due to changes in the world or influencer power, there is no doubt that fashion morphs with the times. Remember when the rise of streetwear brands influenced the creation of athleisure wear? This is a prime example of how fashion evolves in response to world shifts. As we’ve experienced changes due to the pandemic, there is no surprise that new fashion adaptations will start to arise as we slowly start to understand the new normal.

Since working from home became the new norm for many of us, there was an unspoken struggle when it came to combining comfort and productivity; especially in the essence of how to dress. While the basic morning routines remained the same, we saw a shift in the way mornings were being utilized. Busy commutes are traded for home made coffee and catching up on the news; even breakfast is starting to gain recognition. So what did this mean for our outfit choices?

When it comes to fashion, we saw that these new adaptations are translated into more loungewear being worn in place of work clothes. And as the cold weather approaches sweat sets are becoming the primary stable for the new working from home attire.

However, as the months continue on and there is no promise of going back to the office, it becomes hard to focus on working from home especially if you are bundled in sweats all day. Changing your top quick for zoom meetings isn’t enough motivation.

That is when we saw a rise in brands that we call elevated loungewear. Consumers wanted to invest in articles of clothing that were no only comfortable, but made them feel like they were getting dressed for work. These brands brought breathable, comfortable, and maybe most importantly work appropriate to life in loungewear.

WHAT IS HOMEWEAR?

Homewear is the new in between attire. They are the clothes you wear when you are relaxing at home, working from home, or when you get home after a long day at work and aren’t quite ready for pajamas. It is the new hybrid way of styling loungewear; balancing the feeling of comfort and productivity.

The main fabrics used are organic cotton, linen, silk, and chambray, with a mix of knits and loosely woven techniques. These fabrics help to keep the lounging comfort with simplistic fashion style.
